birth story: (will be the same for Patrick and Bader) Tucker had an appointment to get neutered, but it got canceled due to COVID. We weren't able to schedule him before Abby went back into heat, and, well, nature happened again. As soon as I thought the breeding might have resulted in a pregnancy, I predicted that the baby or babies would be born on the 25th of July, around 1AM. My husband nudged me awake at about 2:30 AM to tell me he heard crying. I got up, and Abby was nursing two puppies. I checked them over to make sure they were okay. Two perfect little girls - one solid white, and one a dark brown, similar to Ben as a newborn. I waited up for two hours or so, and no more puppies came, so I went back to bed. I got up again around 6:00 AM, and there were still just two little girl puppies nursing, so I went back to bed. Around 9:00 AM, I heard more puppy whimpering, so I got up to make sure the girls were okay. Much to my shock, there was a third puppy nursing - white with a little brown spot on his butt. Next to him were the white one and a dark one, but I noticed that the dark one didn't seem like the same one I had seen earlier - and these three weren't crying. Wrapped up in the blanket in Abby's crate were two more puppies - the dark girl she had had earlier, and another. I'm not sure now if Bader was the one wrapped in the blanket with the girl, or if he was the one nursing, because there were two boys that were practically identical at first.
name story: Bader was never going to be one of the puppies we kept. He had a "filler" name for record keeping purposes when he was tiny, but it wasn't until he was six weeks old or so that we realized he was one of the ones being held back because his new home had fallen through. I had NO IDEA what we would call him. And then Ruth Bader Ginsberg died, and I suggested Bader as a tribute. Robin is after Robin Williams - a favorite of both my husband and I.
fun facts: Bader looks almost identical to his brother Ben - their coloring is practically the same, their fur texture is the same. I often get the two of them confused if I just quickly glace. Bader is a good bit shorter than his brother, though, and has a more baby-looking face (not just because he's younger - he just has a shorter little baby face than his brother had even at the same age).
favorite things: Wrestling with Ben and Patrick. Cookies. Cuddling with human mommy and daddy. Giving kisses.
dislikes: Having to wait for treats - he ALWAYS pushes to be first, and will leap in the air to steal extra treats out of my hand.
